Abstract

Squamous cell carcinoma developing in an epidermal cyst is an extremely rare entity, with an estimated incidence of less than 0.05 % of cases. We present the case of a 22-year-old male with a cutaneous lesion located in the anteromedial region of the right thigh, clinically interpreted as a complicated epidermal cyst, whose histological study revealed transition areas toward well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. The patient evolved favorably after complete resection, with no evidence of recurrence at two-month follow-up. Through a review of the international literature, we analyze predisposing factors, diagnostic criteria, and therapeutic implications. This case emphasizes the importance of histopathological examination of all surgical specimens, as well as the need to report new cases in the region to raise clinical and pathological awareness and contribute to global scientific knowledge.
